Pingback: HB Tansu #3-Progress 1 | GREG MERRITT – BY MY OWN HANDS
im very interested in japanese style cabinet joinery, but im having trouble finding out much about it on the internet. thanks for posting this. do you have any suggestions for learning more about this without buying expensive books? thanks again for sharing this.
Unfortunately there just isn’t that much out there on Japanese furniture construction. Most of what I have done is best guess from looking at hundreds of photos. The rest I just make up. I have yet to find even a book that details the joinery. Most of the books deal with timber frame construction joinery. If I do find anything of use you can be sure I’ll post it here on my blog.
Greg I was nearly desperate to find something on Japanese joinery but then I stumbled across your site! This is such a treasure to me. Thanks for sharing all of these amazing things! I also love your story in the About section, and I can relate a lot because I grew up in a very similar environment. Keep it up and best of luck!
thanks mate
