Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving

It is the Thanksgiving holiday here in the states and I have found myself in a retrospective state of mind.  I have a lot to be thankful for.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to go into some long winded list of what I’m thankful for, but focus on just one.

I started this blog about a year and a half ago with no idea if I had anything to add to the woodworking world.  Lets face it, my designs are far from mainstream, I use unconventional techniques and my finishing is far from the standard.  That’s not to mention the fact that I try to use “home center” lumber as much as I can.  Oh, and I design based upon proportions not dimensions.  Now that I list it all out, I’m surprised anyone reads my blog. 😉

But the support from the on-line community has been unbelievably positive and encouraging.  In the beginning my hope was to inspire others to get out in the shop and make something.  I think that has happened and its those comments that really hit me.  What I didn’t fully anticipate is how much your support would inspire me. The overwhelming support and encouragement inspires me to be better.  A better designer, a better woodworker and a better writer.  That last one is a real challenge!  Hopefully I can rise to the challenge and add something of worth to the woodworking world.

So let me express a heart felt THANK YOU to all of you that support and encourage me on this blog.  I doubt that you will ever know just how much it truly means to me.

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Greg Merritt

    Happy thanksgiving
I really enjoy reading your blog
The use of ” home centre” timber and straight forward projects makes it accessible to those of us at the beginning of our woodworking journey

Thank you for your great blog. Wonderful that inspiration can pass instantly from one continent to another. Greetings from the Peak District National Park in UK. You are so generous to share your knowhow. Thank you.

Thank you for this great blog; it is one of my favourites. Looking at your gallery, you have been really productive. I like your sketches. Great ideas like the fixed width mortise guauge etc.
    etc.

If you don't comment this is just a fancy way for me to talk to myself.
